VIRTUAL VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

Below are some volunteering opportunities that can be done remotely. Due to COVID-19, in-person opportunities are rare, but here are some organizations to check out!

CRISIS TEXTLINE

Crisis Counselors answer texts from people in crisis, bringing them from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening, collaborative problem solving, and safety planning.

TRANSLATORS WITHOUT BORDERS

Translators without Borders depends on volunteers to translate millions of words, but also to help us run the organization. We work with volunteers who have all kinds of great skills – and many learn new skills that they can use in their jobs.

AMERICAN RED CROSS

Wondering how to help with COVID-19? Our need for volunteers is constant and continues to evolve as we navigate this Coronavirus health crisis. Volunteer opportunities include supporting blood donations and virtual volunteer work.

HEALTH4THEWORLD

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. They  design and create our products, fundraise, and are committed to helping us achieve our mission. We’d love for you to join them.

COVEDUCATION

With many schools across the U.S. closing their doors, students and families, who have been affected by the pandemic, struggle to continue their education from home. Our initiative, CovEducation, aims to promote greater access to web-based curricula and academic support for K-12 students, facilitating the transition to virtual learning for students with limited access to resources.

CLIMATE CARDINALS

Student Translators are the people responsible for translating documents administered to them by their Language Lead. They are responsible for keeping in contact with their fellow Student Translators and their Language Lead. This includes (but is not limited to) translating received documents, peer-editing translated documents, and attending weekly calls.

BE MY EYES

Be My Eyes is a free app that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers and company representatives for visual assistance through a live video call.

LETTERS OF LOVE

We’re collecting cards and mailing these to elders in senior communities across the globe. These include nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospices and senior centers with whom we’ve connected. Over the years, you’ve sent us tens of thousands of letters from 66 countries, and the numbers keep growing!

ZOONIVERSE

First of all, everyone who contributes to a Zooniverse project is a volunteer! We have a wonderful, global community who help us do what we do. The main ways of volunteering with us are helping us with classifications on data, being a beta tester on projects we've yet to launch, and being a moderator for a project.
